Cardiology Fellowship Program
About the Tulane Cardiovascular Training Program
The Tulane University School of
Medicine Cardiology Fellowship is a three-year program. The goal
of the Tulane University Cardiology Fellowship training program is
to train Cardiology fellows in the practice of clinical Cardiology;
to teach the knowledge, skills, clinical judgment, attitudes and
values that are essential to the practice of Cardiology. As well,
we strive to foster humanistic and ethical attributes in our trainees
and encourage an appropriate balance between academic endeavors and
clinical service.
Tulane Cardiology fellows do
rotations at Tulane-Lakeside Hospital in Metairie, LA; Tulane University
Hospital and Clinics in New Orleans, LA; Veterans Affairs Medical
Center New Orleans, New Orleans, LA. Clinical rotations include Cardiac
Catheterization, Interventional Cardiology, Non-Invasive Imaging,
Electrophysiology, Cardiology Consults/CCU and Congestive Heart Failure.
The amount of time spent at each institution is determined by the
particular needs of the individual and the desire to provide a balanced
training experience. In addition, trainee participation in basic
or clinical cardiovascular research is highly encouraged. During
the program, the trainee will move from participation in procedures
under very close supervision to independent activity.
The Office
of Graduate Medical Education (GME) is responsible for ensuring
that all residents and fellows at Tulane University School of Medicine
are provided an accredited, educational experience of the highest
quality.
